How to Join

Joining the MS 150 Team

The Texas Bike MS 150 is one of the largest fundraising cycling events in the United States. Each year, thousands of cyclists make the journey from Austin to Bryan-College Station across two days of riding — all in support of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

For AANGCC, the MS 150 is more than a ride. It's our annual commitment to the fight against MS — a disease that affects nearly 1 million Americans. Every dollar raised goes directly toward MS research, programs, and advocacy.

Whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned MS 150 veteran, riding with the AANGCC team means you never ride alone. We train together, ride together, and celebrate every finish line as a family.

Joining our MS 150 team is simple — all it takes is dedication and a genuine passion for making a difference. We're looking for riders who share our commitment to the cause and are ready to go the distance for something bigger than themselves. This isn't about personal glory or a self-gratifying challenge; it's about service, impact, and purpose.

If you are interested in joining the AANGCC MS 150 team, review the requirements thoroughly before committing. Participation in the MS 150 is not casual — it requires discipline, consistency, and a genuine investment in the mission.

This is a purpose-driven effort. The ride itself is demanding, but the true responsibility lies in the preparation, fundraising, and accountability required leading up to it. Every rider is expected to contribute meaningfully, not only to their own readiness, but to the strength and reliability of the team as a whole.

Commitment ensures that we operate with precision, maintain our standards, and represent the cause with integrity. When one person falls short, it impacts logistics, team cohesion, and the broader mission we serve.

The cause is too important, and the work too meaningful, to be approached with anything less than full commitment.

📋

MS Registration

  • Limited spots on the team — interested riders MUST register by the last Monday in November (Thanksgiving week).
  • Failure to meet the deadline will preclude you from joining the team.
  • When registering, be sure to register under the team name: All Ass No Gas Cycling Club.
👕

Club Apparel Deadline

  • All club apparel payments must be submitted by December 5.
  • If you are already a club member with a current kit, you may not need to purchase new apparel.
  • All club apparel is custom-made in Germany — production timelines are strict. Missing this deadline may result in delayed delivery.
💰

Fundraising Requirement

  • All riders must raise a minimum of $1,500 to be eligible — no exceptions.
  • Each rider is required to meet this minimum by the first Wednesday in April of each year.
  • Timely fundraising enables the team captain to collect all ride packets from the MS Society in a single pickup.
  • It also provides an accurate count for Airbnb accommodations, food, and overall logistics.
  • Upholds Accountability and Standards — Clear fundraising minimums and deadlines establish a culture of accountability. Every rider is held to the same expectation, which reinforces discipline and ensures that participation is earned—not assumed.
  • Protects Team Reputation with the MS Society — Meeting deadlines and fundraising commitments reflects professionalism. It positions AANGCC as a reliable, high-performing team, strengthening relationships with organizers and increasing future opportunities and support.
  • Prevents Last-Minute Disruptions — Late fundraising or uncertainty around participation creates unnecessary stress and forces reactive decision-making. Early clarity allows the team to operate proactively rather than scrambling at the last minute.
  • Ensures Fair Contribution Across the Team — Every rider benefits from shared resources—housing, support, logistics, and team coordination. Meeting the fundraising requirement ensures that everyone contributes equally to the mission and overall experience.
  • Strengthens Commitment to the Cause — The MS 150 is not just a ride—it's a purpose-driven event. Fundraising is a direct reflection of each rider's commitment to the cause, ensuring the mission remains front and center.
  • Improves Planning and Execution Quality — With confirmed numbers and funding in place early, the team can make better decisions around accommodations, nutrition, transportation, and support—leading to a smoother, more professional experience for everyone involved.
  • These requirements are not just rules — they are standards that protect the culture, efficiency, and mission of the team.
🚴

Practice Ride Participation

  • All riders must participate in at least 75% of scheduled training rides for the MS 150.
  • Official MS 150 practice rides begin on the first Saturday of December each year.
  • Riders who fail to meet the 75% requirement will be fined $25.00 for each missed ride under the 75% threshold.
  • All fines must be paid directly to the club via the club's website.
  • Minimum Distance Progression Requirement — All riders must demonstrate the ability to complete progressively longer rides in alignment with the training schedule (e.g., 20, 30, 45, 60, 75+ miles). Ensures riders are physically prepared for the demands of the MS 150.
  • Mandatory Safety & Group Ride Etiquette Session — All riders must attend at least one safety and group riding skills session (hand signals, drafting, pacing, communication). Reduces risk and improves overall group efficiency on the road.
  • Ride Check-In / Tracking Requirement — All riders must log or check in for each official practice ride (via app or designated system). Creates accurate participation records and eliminates disputes.
  • Minimum Pace & Group Compatibility Standard — Riders must maintain a baseline pace or ride within designated pace groups. Keeps the group cohesive and prevents disruptions during long rides.
  • Equipment Readiness Requirement — All riders must maintain a roadworthy bike and bring essential gear (helmet, spare tube, pump/CO2, hydration, food). Prevents avoidable delays and ensures self-sufficiency during rides.
  • These additions reinforce readiness, safety, accountability, and performance — all of which are critical for a smooth, successful MS 150 experience.

Team Awards

Team awards reinforce the values, standards, and behaviors that define our culture. They strengthen unity, elevate standards, and create positive momentum. When people feel valued, they are more likely to stay committed, collaborate effectively, and inspire others. In mission-driven teams, awards turn goals into stories and performance into legacy.

💪 The Comeback Rider Award

Awarded to the rider who shows the greatest improvement on the bike from the previous MS 150 season to the current season.

🥇 Top Fundraiser (Day 2)

Presented to the team member who achieves the highest total fundraising amount by the conclusion of Day 2. Represents initiative, leadership, and deep commitment to the MS Society's mission.

⭐ Elite Fundraiser

🦵 Iron Legs Award
